This San Mai blade is comprised of 2 layers of Damascus steel each having 56 individual, hand-forged layers. These outer layers are forge welded over a middle piece of high carbon and nickel steel known as 15n20. Giving this blade a total of 113 layers. It is forged and ground in the Japanese style known as SANTOKU. It has an overall length of 12” with a 7” blade length. It is 1.7 inches wide at the belly. A full flat grind with superb distal taper.
The handle is California Buckeye Burl vacuum stabilized for lasting beauty and durability. It is lined with black and white spacers and mounted with 3 stainless steel pins. The most comfortable chefs’ knife you will ever use!
